First birthday celebration with the Poongavanam RSTC orphanage in Chennai, India.
Of the nearly 140 million orphans globally in 2015 (unicef), more than 400,000 were in the United States (U.S. Department of Health and Human Services). Touched by their cousin Amoha Kaul’s first birthday celebration which was shared with orphans in India, Anika and Meha Koul decided to found One for Orphans in 2020. One for Orphans provides support to orphans and the poor through its programs which address the needs of local orphanages and shelters, from basic needs like food and clothes to rights like education to empower orphans and those in poverty to reach their full potential. One for Orphans provides this support primarily through drives, fundraisers, and instructional workshops, as well as with the greatly appreciated contributions of volunteers and donors. We hope to help as many people in need as we can to become the best versions of themselves.
One for Orphans provides support through need specific programs. To fulfill financial needs for orphans and the poor, we run fundraisers. Food security is ensured through food drives, our annual hunger dinner, and contributions from local restaurants. We provide educational support and resources through school supplies drives and virtual instructional workshops. Finally, we provide support during the Covid-19 pandemic through our personal protective equipment drives.
